White Mexican Cream Guava has earned a reputation as one of the finest guavas in cultivation, and after hearing Jeff from The TropicalGardenGuy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvsaxJw3sdc) rave about it on his YouTube channel, I was thrilled when he was kind enough to send me seeds from his own tree in California.
Those seeds were planted at CRISP Farms on April 2, 2025, and I now have young plants available for growers who would like to grow this outstanding guava for themselves.
Mexican Cream is prized for its creamy white flesh, rich sweetness, and complex tropical flavor. Many growers describe hints of pineapple, passion fruit, strawberry, and papaya, all wrapped up in a fruit that is often considered sweeter and more approachable than many common guava varieties. The fruit typically develops a pale yellow skin surrounding soft, juicy flesh that can be enjoyed fresh, blended into drinks, or turned into jams and desserts.
Like all of the plants we grow at CRISP Farms, these seedlings are being evaluated under real Gulf Coast conditions in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, where they experience intense summer heat, humidity, heavy rainfall, and the occasional winter cold snap. Guavas continue to prove themselves among the easiest and most productive fruit trees we can grow in our climate, rewarding growers with fragrant blossoms, attractive evergreen foliage, and abundant fruit.
While every seed-grown guava carries some genetic variation and the possibility of becoming something unique, these seedlings trace back to fruit produced by one of California's most enthusiastic tropical fruit growers. For those who enjoy rare fruit, seedling selection, and the excitement of growing the next great guava, this White Mexican Cream Guava is a wonderful place to start.
