These seeds were started at CRISP Farms on June 17, 2024, from seed acquired through Huertas Urbanas. We have not yet had the opportunity to taste the fruit ourselves, but one thing that immediately stands out about these plants is the wood. Compared to the other guavas we grow, the stems have a distinctive smooth texture and a light beige coloration that gives them a unique look even at a young age.

According to Marcos at Huertas Urbanas, this selection is known as Full Yellow (Amarela), a rare guava distinguished by its unusual golden-yellow coloration that extends from the skin into the flesh. Unlike the more common pink-fleshed guavas, this variety is said to offer a rich sweetness and tropical flavor that has made it a favorite among collectors and fruit enthusiasts.

Like many of the plants we grow at CRISP Farms, part of the excitement is seeing how these genetics perform in the heat, humidity, heavy rainfall, and occasional winter cold of Southeast Louisiana. Every seed-grown guava has the potential to reveal something special, and we're eager to see how this selection develops as it matures.

For growers who enjoy collecting unusual fruit trees and exploring lesser-known guava varieties, Full Yellow (Amarela) is an intriguing addition to the collection. With its striking appearance, rare genetics, and reputation for excellent flavor, this is one we're especially excited to watch as it grows.
